I haven't seen this movie since it came out and it still moves me to think about it. After I saw it, I didn't think of anything else for days.
I personally thought what the character did was wrong, not that she was a transsexual, but her being deceptive about it. This was a classic case of the punishment NOT fitting the crime. I was devastated to see what those guys did to her.
Hilary Swank was phenomenal in this film!

Did I ever tell you about the time I got arrested?
Yup, I really did get arrested.
I was tending bar one night when one of my customers went out to his truck for a pack of smokes. I really hadn't noticed that he had been gone for a while, but I sure noticed him when he walked back in!! He was a bloody, beat up mess! Now, this really was a nice bar, but the location wasn't fabulous. We had a group of teenage boys living out back that were holy terrors and this night, they beat the crap out of my customer, Ron.
Soooo...Ron's girlfriend, my cook, and another female friend decided to go outside so that they could get descriptions of the hoods for the cops. WHAT??!!! They can't go out there! Ron is not a small guy, just the opposite and they beat the tar out of him, two girls were going to be no match for these jerks!
And this is where I come in.
I grabbed the baseball bat from behind the bar and went out after my girlfriends. There was no way I was going to let my friends or myself get beat up! The boys were still out there and my friends were yelling at them, I grabbed my girlfriends and told them to get back in the bar. The cops were on their way, let them deal with it.
The cops came, interviewed everyone and after talking to the boys came back in the bar to arrest me for assault with a weapon!! WHAT!!!????? What assault? Apparently the little peckerwoods decided to tell to cops that I came out swinging!
I got fingerprinted and had my mugshot taken!! Hysterical!!! (if you really knew me you'd understand how funny that really is)
Luckily one of the cops was a customer of mine and on my court date went in to speak to the judge on my behalf. He explained to her that this was NOT my style and after I asked her what she would have done if it were HER girlfriends, the charges were dropped.
My boss had my name inscribed on the bat, I am and will always be "Batgirl" to them!

We went to Toronto for a hockey game this weekend. It was a long drive, but we had a great time. What a beautiful city! I had never been there and I'd love to go back in the summer to simply sightsee. We went to Wayne Gretzkys for lunch. I really didn't want to go there, but was glad we did, the food was good and it was a pretty cool place. They used skates for the door handles!!

This was such a great show! Every Friday night we'd put the babies to bed and park it in front of the TV with our wings and beers and get totally creeped out! Pretty exciting date night, eh?
I did not grow up in a sports house. My Dad wasn't the guy planted in his recliner every Sunday, screaming at the TV. My mistake husband wasn't much of a sports nut, my good husband wasn't when we got married either. He was more of a baseball fan and we liked going to games, they were fun and all but, you know, it's just baseball.
In 2002 he took me to a Hockey game, what was that warm and tingly feeling? My heart beat faster and I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat. YES!!! HOCKEY!!!! I get it now, I know why guys are crazy over their games, I just had to find mine.
Now keep in mind, I am a very non-violent, peace loving woman, I study Buddhism for Pete's sake! But there is a complete metamorphesis when I watch a hockey game. I get super excited, I scream things like REF YOU SUCK!!, You skate like my Aunt Tillie!, Start the bus LOSERS!, I pretty much lose my mind. Ohhh and the fights, I am seriously disappointed if there are no fights, what the hell is that? That's not a game! I want to see these guys beat the crap out of each other! The goons are my favorite players.
I had the privilege of being at one of the best Hockey fights, it was just a few weeks ago. The players were fighting, the goalies were fighting, even the coaches were fighting...it was AWESOME!!
We go to games every chance we get and if we can't go we're watching them on TV. I still get that warm and fuzzy feeling...just like my first time.
